The great thing about doing a weekly radio show is that it gives you the chance put together special themes and styles. Last week was Nice ‘N’ Ripe celebrating that London bounce from back in the 90’s. We also paid homage to Dave Lee a couple of months back. This week we cross over the Atlantic to pay homage to Baltimore.
I’ll be honest I’ve never been there, but playing back to back with Kevin Anthony every week and hearing him mention all the great artists he knows in the Baltimore area it got me thinking, so here we are.

Just about everyone knows who we’re talking about.
The legendary Basement Boys (Teddy Douglas, Thommy Davis, Jay Steinhour, DJ Spen & Karizma)
Neal Conway who gave us the timeless classic “Gypsy Woman”
The incredible vocal talent of Marc Evans and in my opinion the finest gospel group in House music – Jasper St Company.
And of course we can’t leave out those Muthafunkaz.

The style of music is distinctive. It’s chunky and powerful but with a very rich production sound. At one point in the mix it feels more like a Sunday morning in church than a Thursday night on the radio, but it certainly gets the blood pumping.

There is sure to be another Baltimore House show later this year as it was hard whittling down all the tracks to just one two hour show.

Big shout to Stiletto Heels this week who stayed up through the night and made it through the show. Sure she’ll be sleeping for the next couple of weeks now 🙂

Thanks to everyone for your continued support for the first half of the year. Plenty more to come in the remainder of 2012. I’ve certainly enjoyed it so far, hope you have enjoyed listening too.

Been into house music for 20 years now. Lucky enough to grow up in the North of England in the late 80's early 90's. Enabled me to see all the legendary DJs that built the scene. Been DJ'ing since 94. Over the years I've been into most scenes as they emerged, House, US Garage, UK Garage, Deep House, Funky House, Latin Vibes, Chicago Jack and of course the Soulful Vocal stuff. My mixes are a reflection of those styles, usually starting off on a mellow vibe progressing through to the chunky stuff before bringing you safely back down on the other side. The common theme being great quality bottom heavy, shake your ass music. I moved to Sydney on the other side of the world in 2006. It's a great place, but I do miss the house scene in the UK, theres just nothing else quite like it. Hope you enjoy the mixes, as much as I enjoy creating them.
