c2eMusic Radio Show 04-apr-13 Best Of British

It’s been over seven years since I said goodbye to the motherland and headed down under.  It’s only when you leave somewhere that you fully appreciate everything you loved about it.  For me that’s a mix of smooth pothole free roads, and the nations unrivalled love of house music spanning over 25 years.

Best of British

This is the first time I have done a mix that celebrates the creative dynamos that live on the windy wet rock we know as the UK.  I’ve tried to represent a mix from the deep to the soulful and of course the sound created there – UK garage.  I’ve also tried to be strict and only use tracks where the producer and remixer are from the UK.  In the majority of cases this also includes any vocalists, but a few non UK singers slipped through!

This mix is overflowing with talent featuring on the production side the likes of Atjazz, Jimpster, Richard Earnshaw, The Layabouts, Groove Assassin, Sean McCabe, Phil Asher, DJ Garphie, Souldynamic, Jazzloungerz, Conan Liquid, Danism, Ziggy Funk, Shur-I-Khan, Milton Jackson, Reel People, Irfan Rainy and a host of other talented Brits.
There are also the vocal talents of Omar, Shea, Taliwa, Zara McFarlane, Deon Nathan and Portia Monique

This is only the first of what is likely to be a long running series as there is so much quality to choose from both past and present.  So yes I know legends like Grant Nelson, Dave Lee and co are missing here, but that is just going to push me to get a follow up out sooner than later.
It goes without saying a Stars & Stripes series is also on it’s way, as well as Continental (Europe) and SA sets.  A NY and London city series may even be on the cards, watch this space.

Not that anyone noticed (including me!) but I have been playing on Pressure for over a year now (23rd Feb 2012). Would have been nice to have a special 1 yr anniversary show – but that will have to wait until the second year anniversary now.
In that time I’ve met some great like minded people in the chatroom who come in every week. Also been welcomed into the Pressure family by Carol, Paul and all of the Pressure DJs and I’m very grateful for that.
So here’s to another year……at least on the Pressure airwaves.

Been into house music for 20 years now. Lucky enough to grow up in the North of England in the late 80's early 90's. Enabled me to see all the legendary DJs that built the scene. Been DJ'ing since 94. Over the years I've been into most scenes as they emerged, House, US Garage, UK Garage, Deep House, Funky House, Latin Vibes, Chicago Jack and of course the Soulful Vocal stuff. My mixes are a reflection of those styles, usually starting off on a mellow vibe progressing through to the chunky stuff before bringing you safely back down on the other side. The common theme being great quality bottom heavy, shake your ass music. I moved to Sydney on the other side of the world in 2006. It's a great place, but I do miss the house scene in the UK, theres just nothing else quite like it. Hope you enjoy the mixes, as much as I enjoy creating them.
