Sorry to report the sad passing of Soul, disco diva legendary singer Loleatta Holloway …
It was reported by her manager Rob Richardson that Loleatta died late 21st march 2011 aged just 64, after slipping in to a coma.
Loleatta Holloway started her career in the 60’s but best known for her songs in the 70’s on labels such as Salsoul with her biggest hit, and much sampled “Love Sensation”.
Of course Love Sensation was also famous for being sampled by UK commercial dance act Black Box who unofficially sampled the track in their Ride on Time hit and even had the cheek to mime to Loleatta’s vocal.
Loleatta also had official reworks using her vocals from the likes of Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, Masters At Work and many others bringing her amazing vocals in to House music for us all to enjoy.
Rest in peace Loleatta we will remember you in your music…
